"I had set myself a major new challenge: a half Ironman. Starting training with no triathlon experience at all felt like a huge obstacle. I quickly decided to get a coach, and on recommendation, I ended up with Alan.
From the start, it didn’t feel like something I could tackle on my own. I wanted to make progress quickly, and I immediately knew that having a coach was the right choice. Because Alan works with both experienced and less experienced athletes, I was confident he had all the knowledge needed to guide me.
I really appreciated not having to think about my training – it was just a matter of following the plan.
Training based on heart rate was a big adjustment and took some getting used to. But after the second base period, when I had a recovery week and then started the next specific phase, I noticed my heart rate stayed low at a higher pace – that’s when I knew everything was coming together. Alan also explains really clearly why you’re doing certain sessions, which makes it feel like everything has a purpose and contributes to your performance.
Anyone doing a triathlon for the first time, or looking to improve their times, is in excellent hands with Alan. You’ll learn a lot about your training, how to listen to your body, and how to get better at the sports you want to improve."
