Lino Colombo eventually achieved a third place at the Masters category. Lino didn’t participate in all the races of the Limburg cross classification, therefore his starting position wasn’t optimal. After the first lap he was third, but there was already a gap to the first two. Two competitors of Lino closed the gap and competed against him for third place. One of those competitors was Belkin sportif director Nico Verhoeven. For a few laps there was a great battle for third place. Nico Verhoeven had to give up and in the last laps Lino drove away from his last competitor for third place.
Etiënne Korff consolidated his position in the general classification
For Etiënne it was a difficult race. The altitude difference each lap should be in his favor, but the mud made it impossible to cycle on the climbs. A few days earlier he explored the round but the conditions were very different. The ground was frozen and hard enough to cycle most of the track.
Etiënne had a tough day because large parts of the track had to be covered on foot. He also punctured during the race. Finally, he ended on a 13th place and increased his advantage on the number 8 in the general classification, while he only lost one point to the man in front of him.
Joaquim Boels rode very well, despite he wasn’t completely fit
In the amateur class, Joaquim Boels wasn’t completely fit when he started. Despite he was suffering from a cold he finished the race, and overtook some riders who started to hard. Joaquim didn’t start in all races for the Limburg cross classification, he climbed to the 9th place in the general classification.
Sunday, January 4, 2015 is the next race in the Limburg cross classification. This race will be held in Landgraaf.
